This week, I reflect on planting our garden, banishing the bamboo and the uterus pool, and I order some bulbs. Plus a market haul and a recipe for oeufs cocotte aux champignons.
The Philippi nursery near you is so interesting, as is their book, though the answer does as always lie in the soil (clay that sets like concrete in the Mediterranean summer is almost impossible). More on your garden would be great, please.
I can't wait to hear more about the developments. And oh that pool - a horror, but the Judas Tree is FABULOUS though - and the colours are all so cheering .
Your oeufs sound so tasty. My Mum used to love the poor man’s version for a quick lunch. Thinly sliced cheddar arranged on an ovenproof plate, egg broken into the middle and the top of the milk poured on the cheese then lots of S & P. I was happy she was getting lots of protein and she was never one for veg! Your garden will be different but magnificent too.
Love the recipe - can just imagine you enjoying it by the uterus pool and I know the pain of the tiger mosquitoes too! What cream do you use if you want to make and English type of gateau - please don't say chantilly!
Ooh, is that La Bambouseraie? I've never been, but when my daughter was visiting her French school exchange partner one summer (the girls hit it off and kept going back and fore between Bordeaux and Edinburgh) the family took her to visit it. Not sure stands of bamboo were a hit with the teenagers, but she did bring me back a nice sac à vie from there which brightens up the weekly shop in a Mediterranean way.
Ahh, we love Farmer Gracy too! Your garden looks amazing already. 😁
« No one can style out a uterus pool » - never thought such a sentence could bring me such joy!
