Thanks to your reference to Nigel Slater's cookbooks being kept under lock and key, we watched the 2010 movie based on his childhood called: Toast. It's free on Amazon and is such a sweet, happy sort of movie that they really don't seem to make anymore! Thank you Debora! : )

We have several in our little coastal commune (Cleder, in Finistere). I was incredibly impressed at the one nearest us surviving the November storms. I often pop books in and they disappear within a day or two. I’ll definitely be making the cake.

I would never think to ask what’s the most stolen book, I’m intrigued now! We have those little boxes in our town too, in red, they’ve have such a strange array of books in them. That chocolate cake looks devine!

Made the cake this afternoon and family are raving about it. I don’t think it’ll last long.

What a lovely idea, that library. BTW, may I ask how come 13 eggs are traditional in France? Is there an exciting story?

A neighbour has set up a little library in what looks like an old coal hole. It’s always well stocked - lots of thrillers. Probably says a lot about my neighbourhood!

Mini-libraries are such a great idea. We also have a book exchange stall at the local craft market, but they have a strict bring one/take one policy. Doesn't really help as I am trying to declutter books.

Thank you for the chocolate cake recipe. Just the thing I need to get through a weekend of working.

I’m looking forward to baking this chocolate cake but only once my new kitchen is ready.

OK! Finally we have proof as to why the French are so special. The spines of their books are printed upside down, LOL! I did a doubletake and then confirmed with my own bookcase -- amazing!

I am having some serious holiday flashbacks to "hotel libraries" which often have quite good jettisoned holiday reads, but, one year, only 50Shades in EVERY POSSIBLE LANGUAGE but alllllways the same jacket design
