I was one of the fortunate visitors that weekend and we saw you, I think, in La Glacerie where we stopped for a coffee. I'd have loved to tell you how much I enjoy and appreciate your writing but didn't want to interrupt your reverie...
I have been visiting Nice for 20 years and am obsessed with keeping up with the goings on via FB. I feel a bit sad that some resent the visitor so much. Do these people never go to other countries, towns and villages. I love when people visit my town. I enjoy your emails immensely. Thank you. I too love the yellow plate. My sister in law has a friend in your town called Barbera. She is a potter. Maybe she was there.
Oh, most people love visitors and are enormously kind and welcoming. Also, they appreciate their important contribution to the income of the town. You always get a few curmudgeons don't you? I wonder if your sister in law's friend was there? She probably was.
First up thank you for showing us those fabulous ceramics. And I know what it is like living on an island when holiday makers come to visit. I never complained because these visitors helped keep businesses open for the full 12 months. We just went to town early as no visitors get out before 10am unless they are going surfing/fishing and they a,so bring a happy vibe to the community.
The yellow plate is wonderful - so summery and cheerful. My favourite thing each week is your market haul. I love to see all the gorgeous produce, especially as being in the Southern Hemisphere with opposite seasons.
I was just taking a walk on the island I visit every year & having these same thoughts. I don’t live here, but I can come for long stretches of time. I love hearing newcomers marvel at the color of the water & how pretty the port is with its pastel houses & working boats.
I will try to keep your words in mind next week when I am back in Venice, unpacking boxes & I need to get something that requires me to walk through Piazza San Marco 😉

Marseillan is a special place.
Ah, Sue, please do say hello if you see me again. That would be so nice, and thank you for your kind words.
I look so forward to these posts! It’s like going on a weekly visit to your oh-so-charming town. 💛
That is so kind, Erin, thank you.
Thank you 🙏 I thoroughly enjoyed reading this post. Bringing happy memories of our holiday in Provence last September! 💛🧡💛
I am so glad, Karen.
Orange plates! 🧡
I know! Pure joy.

Yes, very grateful for their contribution to the economy and also the general bonhomie.
