Thanks for the recipe, Debora. My mother's family is from Durham & Sunderland. Cheese & Onion tart was very much part of my childhood as well. I think I now need to make it part of my adulthood.

Love the north east stories! I’m also from Durham. My mam and aunt had a corned beef pie bake-off many years ago 😊 you describe that environment so well

Thanks for the tip about adding creme fraiche to the pastry. Sounds delicious. Nigella's recipes, as well as being delicious, always tell you what size tin or baking dish to use. Please do the same.

Sounds wonderfully savoury! On using herbs, in 1976, in our nearby small town, my mother and I went into the greengrocers and tentatively asked for a clove of garlic for a fancy recipe we were going to try. We were gently informed that it came in bulbs. To our horror - what were we going to do with the rest of it?
