I live in Paris and found a whole new world opened up to me when I got my dog, Babbet. I also find it impressive that dogs are allowed into most bars and restaurants (and even the Galeries Lafayette!) and yet they're not allowed into most parks. It's a bit like the French attitude to children -- they're expected to fit in with (human) adults. Thank you for your lovely letters.

Wow...great pics of your westies...our Cocker spaniel gets car sick so haven't tried to bring her down to Marseillan yet...luv the cooking recipes from locally sourced foods....wish I could have the same ideas as you but not a imaginative cook ..follow recipes to the absolute.

I love the Chateau du Port building...yes ,Voisin was Parisian( hence house is more Parisian than South of France) but history of wine making in Marseillan was brill until railways and dreaded vine pox!

Ps your house is pretty amazing too. , was owned by brill local architect who designed the roundabout outside the Theatre!

Love Poireaux Vinaigrette! The first time I ate them was in March 1973. My (eventual) late husband and I were staying in Paris for 3 weeks to exhibit at the Salon des Arts Menager at La Defense. It was the equivalent of the Ideal Home Exhibition in Earls Court and we were there to 'test the water' with a view to set up a French branch of my husband's UK family business. We stayed in a small hotel near the Etoile, and ate nearly every night at a tiny little family restaurant with only 5 or 6 tables down a quiet nearby street. We called it 'Susan's' as the owner (she was front of house, he was the chef) resembled my husband's niece! Poireaux Vinaigrette was always on the menu for starters and was so delicious I ordered it almost every night. Kept promising myself to try something else but when it came to the moment of ordering I just couldn't! They didn't add the eggs and capers so shall try it! Thank you Debora!
